ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan today approved bail of former DG Hajj affairs Rao Shakeel, a key accused in the infamous Hajj corruption scandal.
The SC bench headed by Justice Anwer Zaheer Jamali was hearing the Hajj corruption case. During the hearing the apex court granted bail to Rao Shakeel, director-general Hajj affairs in Hajj corruption case. The court ordered that the accused must submit 10 million rupees surety bond and surrender his passport to court.
The court also imposed condition on the accused that the court would cancel his bail if he did not appear before the court in case hearing continuously two times. Jusitce Qazi Faiz Essa remarked that the court could not stop the accused bail any more as he was constantly in jail since four years.
He along with former federal minister for religious affairs Hamid Saeed Kazmi and ex-additional secretary ministry of religious affairs Raja Aftab ul Islam were accused of causing millions of rupees losses to the national exchequer during the Hajj season back in 2010.
