Sindh Government is striving hard to improve the quality of education: Rehan Baloch

KARACHI: Teachers and Education Managers of Sindh Education Department who completed training under teacher training program offered to them under CIDA project has asked Sindh Government to certify teachers like as doctors are certified by PMDC and also to increase credit hours of teacher training to improve quality of basic education in more effective and result oriented.
These demands were presented by teachers during an interaction session with visiting 3 members’ delegation of Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) and Project Director Sindh Elementary Teacher Training Program at Government College for Elementary Education Qasimabad Karachi.
Earlier, Three Member delegation of CIDA headed by its Program Director for Pakistan Louis Verret, Director Program David Fronier and First Secretary Development Bob Snieder and Project Director Sindh Elementary Education Rehan Balouch inaugurated the renovation/repair work of College under the CIDA project. Mr. Louis Verret also handed over keys of Hiace Van to College Principal Haroon Leghari on the occasion.
Later, delegation inspected various class rooms, library, computer hall, science laboratories of the College, renovated under CIDA Project and expresses their satisfaction on the work.
Briefing the delegation, College Principal told that repair work has been completed in record time. He thanked to Canadian Government for cooperation in equipping college with better facilitation. Addressing the teachers, education managers, who came from various districts of province, Louis Verret said that basic education is key to progress and Canadian Government is helping Sindh Government to improve quality of teaching at basic level.
He said that CIDA is focusing on basic education and spending 133 million dollars in Pakistan on basic education. He said that teacher training is very important in improving quality of education for girls and boys to make them better citizen for society and country. He said that we have to put lot of emphasize on girls education particularly as women can contribute very much in the development of country. Project Director Sindh Elementary Education training project Rehan Balouch said that Sindh Government is striving hard to improve the quality of education and a comprehensive teachers training program had been started with cooperation of CIDA and added that under the project, structure of teachers training institute is being up- graded. He said that 3500 teachers were trained last year while 4500 teacher were provided training during current year.
Teacher Education and Managers who completed training including Lubna Aziz, Arshad, Amna Sabeen, Shazia Bhanbharo and Gulam Sarwar giving their feedback on the program said that it was remarkable experience and they have improved their skills from training regarding supervision, Monitoring, Human Resource Management, Information Technology and teaching methodology. They said that 5 subjects are being taught at training and each subject consisted of 8 to 10 credit hours which is insufficient and demanded to increase the credit hours of training program to make it more effective and result oriented. They also demanded the recognition of teaching profession and suggested to certify teachers as doctors are being certified by PMDC.
Capacity building for Teachers Educators held at Sukkur IBA

SUKKUR: Additional Secretary Education department, Rehan Iqbal Baloch has said that Sukkur IBA had worked hard and enlisted its name among the top institutes of the country, while congratulated the participants, he said that it is the crucial time to wake up and work to boost education.
Speaking in a concluded session of the 12-day Capacity Building for Teachers Educators of TTIs under Sindh Elementary Teachers Training Project (CIDA) in collaboration with Sukkur IBA here on Monday, he said that 120 officials from Grade-18 to 21, including Lecturers, Assistant Professors and Professors were nominated by the Sindh Government to go through a 12-day capacity building workshop that included the major areas of management like supervision, human resource management (management, human resources and human resource development), ICT in education & Quality education (standards, benchmarks & tools).
Director Sukkur IBA, Nisar Ahmed Siddiqui said that this half part of the training, other half part of the training will be implemented by you at your work place. He take promises from the participant that they will practically implement the knowledge that they have learned in these 12-Day of capacity building training.
A Pre and Post assessment test was also conducted among which three top position holders were awarded with tablet PCs.
