Award distribution ceremony of different sporting competitions held at UoS

JAMSHORO: The Directorate of Sports (Girls), University of Sindh organized a prize distribution ceremony at Madar-e-Millat Fatima Jinnah Girls Gymnasium. Dr. Mehmood-ul-Hassan Mughal, Vice Chairman, Sindh University Sports Board was the Chief Guest on this occasion.
Dr. Mughal, sharing his views on this occasion, termed sports as important as academic aspect of education. He observed that sports were a joyful and indirect form of learning.
Dr. Mughal eulogized the efforts of Directorate of Sports (Girls) towards providing the university girls first-rate sports facilities and environment in general, and towards successfully organizing the inter-department event in particular.
He said that the participation by female students from more than 20 departments/ institutes was a strong evidence of increasing confidence and mental development of the girls studying at University of Sindh.
Dr. Mughal said that a girl’s progress synonyms with the progress of an entire family unit. He convened a message to the girls students of the Varsity who were not there that they too should come forward to actively participate in various sports events as organized from time-to-time by University of Sindh.
He assured them that they would be provided a completely family-like atmosphere during such events. Miss. Mukhtiar Bhatti Director Sports (Girls) welcomed the guests, thanked them for their presence and presented a detailed report of the tournament. She expressed gratitude to Prof. Dr. Muhammad Siddique Kalhoro, Vice-Chancellor, University of Sindh, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Akram Ansari, Director Sports (Boys) and Director Centre for Physical Education, Health & Sports Sciences, Prof. Umed Ali Rind, Member SU Syndicate, Prof. Dr. Nek Muhammad Shaikh, Director ORIC and other dignitaries and the participating teams and the management of their respective departments/ institutes for their participation, support and cooperation.
According to the details of the prizes given away, the first position in Cricket was secured by Department of Sociology, the second position by Centre for Physical Education, Health & Sports Sciences and the third position by Institute of Physics.
In Badminton, the first position was won by Centre for Physical Education, Health & Sports Sciences, the second position by Institute of English Language & Literature and the third position by Institute of Information & Communication Technology.
In Tug-of-War, the first position was bagged by Department of Statistics, the second position by Department of Economics and third position by Centre for Physical Education, Health & Sports Sciences. In Table Tennis, the first position was grabbed by Centre for Physical Education, Health & Sports Sciences, second position by Institute of Information & Communication Technology and the third position by Department of Statistics.
In Throw Ball, the first position was clasped by Centre for Physical Education, Health & Sports Sciences, second position by Faculty of Pharmacy and the third position by Department of Physiology. However, the Champions Trophy and overall top position in the Tournament was clinched by Centre for Physical Education, Health & Sports Sciences. The participating teams were also awarded certificates, trophies and cash prizes.
