KARACHI: Reacting over the Rangers statement regarding alleged confessions of MQM workers on Saturday, Muttahia chief Altaf Hussain accused the paramilitary force of victimizing his party, while turning a blind eye to terrorists in other parts of metropolitan city.
MQM harshly put the Nawaz Sharif government, he said, has no courage to make even an eye contact with the Pak army. He said the Rangers officers were maligning his party getting false statements from the detained MQM workers through torture and media trial was being carried out against his party at gun point.
Altaf said that allegations are being leveled against his party for the past 25 years and that they are not new.
Altaf said that the Rangers personnel forcibly took statement by torturing the suspects. He said that MQM is represented by middle-class workers, adding that it is being intentionally maligned. He accused some of the army generals of their involvement in supporting feudal culture and status quo.
He said Rangers officers, who he said were liars and dishonest, were trying to hide their failures through action against his party.
“They have led a campaign against MQM for the second time; Rangers’ officers are actually officers from the Pakistan army,” he said.
He asked whether the Rangers and Pak army officers had arrested killers of Shias and Christens. The MQM chief said:” We are sorry for calling the army as we are now facing consequences of our deed”.
He said the Sindh government couldn’t act on its own free will, adding that Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has got no courage.” democrats must come forward to rid the nation of the prevailing situation,” he said.
