I would like to place on record that on 08 March, 2015 at Karachi International Women’s Day was jointly Celebrated by the Sindh Agriculture and Fishing Workers Union (SAFWU), Pakistan Workers Federation (PWF) Karachi (Sindh) Region and Women Workers Association (WWA), the program was funded by the Sindh Agriculture and Fishing Workers Union from his own resources in which approximately more than 500 women’s participated in the said event. That Mr. Razi Mujtaba Haider the representative of ILO Islamabad office was the Chief Guest of the program.
International Women’s Day remind us to celebrate achievements, accept challenges an focus more so on women’s rights and gendered equality. The empowerment of women is critical for the achievement of sustainable development in our cultural society, Mr. Waqar A. Memon, Chairman PWF Karachi (Sindh) Region has demanded that the Quota for employment of women in each establishment/organisation of Government, Semi Government, Autonomous Bodies, Public and Private Sector may be fixed.
Mr. Razi Mujtaba Hyder highlighted various problems facing the women for gender equality and its solution is available in various ILO Conventions passed by the ILO specially on C – 100, and C – 111 which have been ratified by the Pakistan. Mr. Razi has also assured on behalf of the ILO that the ILO continuously work for the workers and working women and will support the strengthening of the trade unions for the workers right.
Mr. Asadullah highlighted the critical conditions of poor and deprived Agriculture and Fishing workers specially women who are working in very unhygienic and dangerous condition, despite without availability of first aid, treatment from Social Security, Old Age Pension, Death Grant from Workers Welfare Fund/Board or any Compulsory Group insurance OR Workmen’s Compensation on serious injury, disability or in case of death as such the said facilities are available to Industrial and Commercial workers, he also demanded the same for Agriculture and Fishing workers.
Mrs. Shahila Rizwan President Women Workers Association highlighted the problems facing by the Home Based Workers and also informed the participants that with the struggle of Home Based Workers and with the blessing of Almighty Allah the bill for legislation has been drafted and submitted in the Assembly floor for legislation and we hope that shortly the bill will be approved.

Amber, Shakeela, and others home based women workers.
