ISLAMABAD: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Senator, Aitzaz Ahsan on Monday said it is the right of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Chief Altaf Hussain to wage a constitutional and legal struggle for new provinces.
Talking to media representatives here, Aitzaz said there is a constitutional modus operandi for the formation of new provinces in the country.
“I only request him (Altaf Hussain) not to adopt any such approach for which he has to take the blame,” he said.
Referring to yesterday’s (SUnday) demonstration staged by MQM in Karachi, he regretted that MQM has blown the issue out of proportion. “MQM has made Khursheed Shah the target of its criticism which is highly against our expectations,” he lamented.
He said Khursheed Shah himself belongs to a family that had migrated in the past. “We are the slaves of those who migrated from Makkah to Madina,” he said.
The PPP Senator accused MQM of inciting the sentiments of the people over one issue.
He said cheap language was used in Gujrat’s public meeting and warned against pushing PPP against the wall by such tactics.
