KARACHI: The Sindh Govt and Chinese Companies expert in Agro sector agreed to conceive the planning for the development of all components/organizations and enhance capacity building in Agriculture Sector to ensure sustainable green revolution and Food Security in the province. Both agreed to convert traditional cultivation to modern methodology with use of latest powerful input articles.
This was decided in the meeting regarding development in Agriculture Sector presided over by The Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah at the Committee room of planning & Development Department Tusghlug House Sindh Secretariat Karachi today.
A seven (7) member Chinese delegation led by Z H U YUJIAN from Jangsu Huachang Chemical company limited, which was on the visit of Sindh for one week under the directive of the deputy Minister Agriculture Chinese Govt attended the meeting. The Additional Chief Secretary Planning & Development Muhammad Wasim, Principle Secretary to CM Alumdin Bullo, Special Secretary Technical PS Rajani, Secretary Agriculture, Chief Economist Dr. Fateh Muhammad Mari and other officers participated from Government of Sindh.
After discussion in detail, The Sindh Government and Chinese delegation initially agreed to establish laboratory in Sindh to analyze or ascertain the fertility position of the land (soil)from upper to lower Sindh and additional fertilizer requirement so that appropriate measures be taken to enhance the per acre crop yield. (b)The Chinese firm to provide effective Technical Training to the Agriculture officers of Sindh Government, agriculture graduate and progressive farmers for their capacity building, (c) The Chinese companies invited the officers/Experts of Agriculture sector to visit China for their better observations and understanding for the planning to bring development in Agriculture sector. (d) the visiting Chinese delegation also agreed for under taking their expertise in the establishment of competent fertilizer unites, seed development institutes and efficient Water Technology not only to grow more but get more yield from the crops and conduct studies for future development.
The Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah while addressing the meeting said that with the Grace of God Sindh was blessed with rich and fertile land and natural resources. However he said that we are behind in the latest Technology to exploit our resources properly. He said that water fertilizer and seed were the main input articles in the cultivation of crops but unfortunately we are in short in these resources and looking for the ways & means to meet with these problems.
He said that subject, in which the Chinese delegation is interested, was very much important and in the interest of his government and people of the Sindh and added that we need Chinese expertise and institutional support not only to grow more but get more per acre yield.
The Chief Minister Sindh said that in addition to food crops, there are many other important cash crops kike wise cotton in which the economy and livelihood of the people of Sindh is depended. He said that we are exporting cotton, cotton yarn and cotton fabric and we want to export these items more specially when sanctions from European Countries are relaxed.
The Chief Minister directive all the concerned department of Sindh Government to extend their maximum co-operation and support to the visiting Chinese delegation for their study required future planning. The Chief Minister Sindh said that China was our old but trust worthy friend. It always had helped Pakistan in difficult time.
Further he said that the relation between Pakistan and China were historically cemented by Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and his counterpart in China, while the Co-Chairman PPP and former President of Pakistan Mr. Asif Ali Zardari has also visited China several time to future strength the relations between both nations.
He said that we have resources, but only lacking the latest Technology and expertise and we believe that the China being over brotherly country to share its expertise for the progress to prosperity of people of Pakistan and Sindh as well.
