PESHAWAR: The moderate rain has finally broken the dry-spell in Punjab and upper areas of Khyber Pakthunkhwa including Peshawar, Kohat, Swat and Parachinar as more rain is forecasted during next 24 hours in these regions, signaling the start of winter season.
According to Met Office, the maximum rain was received by Parachinar 62mm followed by Kohat 44mm, Bhakkar 16mm, Risalpur 15mm, Saidu Sharif 13mm, Malamjabba, Chirat 08mm, Pattan Kohstain 06mm, Kalam 5mm , Bannu 02mm and Chitral, Dir 01 respectively.
The rain has given a signal of start of winter season in Khyber Pakthunkhwa and people will have to buy woolen garments for themselves and children.
According to Met office, the weather of Peshawar, DI Khan, Kohat and Parachinar will remain partly cloudy with chances of rain-thunderstorm along with gusty winds during next 24 hours.
A westerly trough is affecting upper parts of the country and is likely to persist during next 24 to 36 hours.
As result of this Weatherly system, rain-thunderstorm associated with gusty winds is expected at scattered places in Khyber-Pakhtunkhawa, Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Gujranwala divisions, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, while at isolated places in Multan, D.G Khan, Sahiwal, Faisalabad, Lahore, Zhob and Quetta divisions during next 24 hours.
In next 48 hours, rain-thunderstorm is expected at isolated places in upper Punjab (Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sargodha divisions), Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar divisions, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.
This present rain will give very positive impact in sowing of wheat crops in rainy areas of Khyber Pakthunkhwa besides controlling seasonal infections.
