LONDON: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Friday landed in London on a three-day visit
According to sources, Sharif will call on his British counterpart, David Cameron, speak at an international conference, and hold meetings with the top UK businessmen of Pakistani origin.
Moreover, the premier will also attend the events organized in connection with Centenary of Gallipoli Campaign and ANZAC Day.
Observed on 25 April each year, Anzac Day was originally to honour the members of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) who fought at Gallipoli against the Ottoman Empire during World War I.
The Gallipoli Campaign At dawn on 25 April 1915, Allied troops landed on the Gallipoli peninsula in Ottoman Turkey. The Gallipoli campaign was the land-based element of a strategy intended to allow Allied ships to pass through the Dardanelles, capture Constantinople (now Istanbul) and ultimately knock Ottoman Turkey out of the war.
