Parents of APS martyrs to form Shuhada Foundation

PESHAWAR: Parents of the martyrs of Army Public School, Peshawar on Wednesday announced to form a ‘Shuhada Foundation’.

Addressing a press conference here, parents of the martyrs demanded of the government to immediately suspend Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Operations and Deputy Commissioner of Peshawar.

“We were tortured during the protest outside Army Public School”, parents claimed.

They said that no political personality was among the protestors, adding that those staging the demonstration were only parents and relatives of the Peshawar school martyrs.

The parents also asked the provincial government to take responsibility of today’s humiliation of the protesters and tender resignation.

“We are proud of our martyrs and will not let the blood of our children go in vain”, parents added.

Earlier, when the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan and his wife Reham Khan reached the APS school in Peshawar, they had to face angry parents outside the gates of the ill-fated alma mater.

The parents of deceased students, who had lost their children in the APS tragedy, vociferously chanted “Go Imran Go” while holding placards inscribed with slogans against Imran Khan’s visit.

Protesters claimed that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister, Pervaiz Khattak and Speaker KP Assembly, Asad Qaiser had resorted to hurling abuse at them.

Addressing a press conference later, PTI chief Imran Khan said he was delighted to see the students’ enthusiasm today and he commended their bravery.

Imran Khan regretted having to postpone his visit to APS two days ago, as it clashed with the visit of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif.

It is pertinent to note here that one of the worst terrorist attack on December 16 last in Peshawar had killed at least 148 people including 136 school children.

Mullah Fazlullah led banned Tehreek-e-Taliban had claimed credit for the attack.
