INCHEON: Pakistan claimed its first gold medal at the Asian Games when the women’s cricket team defeated Bangladesh in the final of the T20 event.
Defending champions Pakistan scored 97/6 with Bismah Maroof scoring 24 and Nain Abidi chipping in with 18 runs.
Bangladesh was given a target of 43 in seven overs after the match was delayed due to rain. Pakistan won the match when their opponents were all out for 38 runs. Sana Mir was the pick of the Pakistani bowlers with figures of 2/11.
