Pakistan beaten by Germany in Champions Trophy final

BHUBANESWAR: Germany defeated Pakistan in the Champions Trophy final 2-0, while the green shirts missed out on opportunities.

Christopher Wesley opened the German account scoring the first goal while Florian Fuchs sealed the deal for the German side.

Pakistan did put up a fight in the last two quarters of the game, but was unable to score. However, Pakistan won a silver medal as the runners-up in the tournament after 16 years.

Pakistan lost out on two players who received a one-match ban by the International Hockey Federation for misconduct in the semi-final against India.

Earlier in the day, Australia defeated hosts India 2-1 to win a bronze medal.
