ADELAIDE: Pakistan and West Indies wrapped up the two remaining World Cup quarter-final spots on Sunday, leaving Ireland as the odd man out.
Pakistan deIreland by seven wickets in Adelaide to secure third place in Pool B and a last-eight showdown against Australia back at the Adelaide Oval on Friday.
West Indies finished fourth and will tackle New Zealand for a place in the semi-finals in Wellington next Saturday. The West Indies beat the United Arab Emirates by six wickets earlier in Napier to finish on six points, the same as Ireland, but ahead on run rate.
That leaves South Africa facing Sri Lanka in the first quarter-final in Sydney on Wednesday and defending champions India against Bangladesh in Melbourne on Thursday.
