ISLAMABAD: Former President Pervez Musharraf on Saturday challenged the jurisdiction of Additional and Session Court in regard to Ghazi Abdul Rasheed murder case.
Musharraf’s lawyer Akhter Shah stated that the case cannot be heard in the Additional Session Court, the trial should instead be commenced in the court of a trial magistrate.
Additional Session Judge Wajid Ali was hearing the case of Lal Masjid’s orator Ghazi Abdul Rasheed when Akhter Shah filed petition to excuse his client from attending the proceedings for the day.
Justice Wajid Ali remarked that he has not received the notification to hear the case again. Lawyer of the claimant Tariq Asad said copy of District and Session judge’s verdict could be obtained that suggested to transfer case back to this court.
He requested the government to lend them time till noon and they woud be able to make the copy of the notification available in the court.
The court adjourned the hearing till 12 pm.
