Mullah Fazlullah’s death yet to be confirmed: Sardar Mehtab

PESHAWAR: Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwah, Sardar Mehtab Ahmed Khan Monday said there were no confirmed reports of death of proscribed Tehrik-i-Taliban (TTP) chief Mullah Fazlullah in the ongoing operation in Tirah Valley.

“The factual position will emerge in a day or two,” he said while interacting with media persons here at Governor House.

He told the reporters that Taliban have developed cracks within their ranks and that their movements near Afghan border have now become difficult, as president Ashraf Ghani’s government was also taking sound steps to put a check on their activities.

“The situation is getting better everyday in the wake of an improved strategy being pursued by Kabul,” he acknowledged.

Sardar Mehtab Ahmed Khan said reports were coming in that the Taliban were reassembling in Tirah Valley of Khyber Agency.
