LANDGRABBERS VANDALISM ON BAGRI GRAVEYARD

Few miscreants entered in graveyard of scheduled cast of Hindu religion Bagri and damaged 20 graves at New Nazar muhalla Larkana few yards away from residence of senior education minister Nisar Ahmed Khuhro here on Monday.
According to details: scores of unknown accused barged into the graveyard of Bagri community and broke the 20 graves here in the jurisdiction of Rahmatpur Police Station on late night On the occasion area Police led by SHO reached at scene and met with leaders of Bagri community and assured to arrest the involved accused behind the incident.
A leader of Bagri community Lashman dass told media men that unidentified accused have damaged the 20 graves in graveyard situated at New Nazar Muhalla near Railway track, he alleged that land grabbers are making plane to occupy the land of graveyard that is why, they damaged to graves which is condemnable act.
He demanded of high ups to take notice of matter, arrest the involved accused and otherwise they will start protest movement.

Police claimed to have arrested 9 criminals, they were wanted by Police in different cases of heinous crime including robberies, murders, drug trafficking and others here on Monday in separate raids.
According to press statement issued by PRO to SSP Larkana told that Waleed Police, Dokri Police, Rashid Wagan , Civil Line Police and Ratodero Police conducted separate raids on different, areas and held accused Abdul Qadir Khokhar, Nadir alias Sadam Malgani, Zaheer Ahmed Ghanghro, Mohsin Dayo, Abdul Razaq Malgani, Pervaiz Soomro, Aslam Soomro, Zamir Brohi and Naveed Ghanghro, on the occasion Police found huge quantity of arms and ammunition from their possession, arrested accused were involved in various heinous crime including robberies, abduction, drug trafficking and others.
SSP Larkana Kamran Nawaz Panjutha said that crack down operation against the criminals elements will remain continued till desired results, accused involved in social evils and their supporters will be dealt with iron hands, it is top priority of Police to protect the lives and properties of public , Larkana Police is committed to maintain the law and order.

Numbers of people over 60 will more than double to over two billion by 2050: Toby Porter

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) HelpAge International Toby Porter has warned the leaders that they will have to radically overhaul a lot of its economic policies in order to accommodate the rising population of old people.
Speaking in a Stake holder’s event, organized by Sindh Rural Support Organization (SRSO) here on Monday, he said that life expectancy is rising in almost every country of the world and the numbers of people over 60 will more than double to over two billion by 2050 making up more than one fifth of the global population.
He said that only if they act now will they have a chance to meet the needs of their citizens and keep their economies going adding that 96 countries and represented nine out of 10 people over 60 around the world. The bottom 10 is including Pakistan, Iraq, Zambia, Jordan, Tanzania, Malawi, West Bank and Gaza.
Mr Toby appreciated the SRSO for its keen efforts on social protection of older people, and highlighted the need for right based social protection mainstreaming in Pakistan.
Regional Director for South Asia Help Age International Peter McGeachie said his organization’s vision is a world in which older people fulfill their potential to lead dignified, active, healthy and secure lives.
He said that Pakistan is one of those 15 countries where population of people over 60 years of age is over 10 million, Currently there are 11.3 Million people over 60 in Pakistan, which will be increased to 43.3 Million in 2050, making 15.8 percent of the total population.
Country Director of Help-Age International, Pakistan Programme Mrs. Ajeeba K. Aslam it was high time for the national government to introduce in Pakistan national social protection floor that integrates income security needs of the older people.
She said that by 2050 the population of older people in Pakistan will reach around 17 percent, from its current level of 7 percent, which will be equivalent to older people population at present in Europe. In this context, she added that then Pakistan will be facing similar, rather more daunting, challenges with respect to ageing which greying Europe faced today.
She further said the population ageing – especially in the developing countries like Pakistan – requires urgent, strategic actions at national, regional and global level. She informed that senior citizens bill is pending in the Pakistan Parliament since 2007 and it’s a very fortunate today that government has advised for consultation of this bill with stakeholders and it will be then presented to parliament.
CEO SRSO Muhammad Dital Kalhoro said that the Government of Sindh has recognized the need of the indigent older people and in this regard his organization presented the Senior Citizen`s bill in the Sindh Assembly (SA) after completing consultation with all line ministries, division departments and other stakeholders and that the next step it would be passed soon in order to turn them into the law, he informed.
He said although some progress has been achieved in enabling older persons to actively participate in society and in recognizing their contributions, there are still important challenges adding that in spite of the growing recognition of the role of older persons in society, there is still a long way to go. The policy for older people is dire need, the constitution enjoins on the state to alleviate the suffering of all citizens, irrespective of age, sex, cast, creed or race, he added.
Regional Manager SRSO Jamal Mustafa underlined that the role of media was important for rise the sensitivity of the issue, urged for maximum highlight it.
He emphasized that a joint effort was obligatory along with all relevant stakeholders, including media and civil society organizations to highlight the problems of old age people in the country.
On the Occasion different Government departments including, Revenue, Health, Civil Defence, PDMA, Population Welfare, Zakat and Usher, Pakistan Bait-ul-Mall, EOBI, Social Welfare, Information Department Sindh Bank, Various INGOs including WWF, Hands, Sindh Bank, Journalists, Lawyers, Older People Associations (OPAs) and other stake holders were also present.

STOP DUMPING MUTILATED BODIES: SINDH PROGRESSIVE COMMITTEE TAKES OUT RALLY

Sindh Progressive Committee took out a big rally against killing Sindhi youth extra judiciously and dumping their dead bodies. The rally was led and addressed by comrade Imdad Kazi secretary general of Communist Party of Pakistan, comrade Latif Leghari and comrade Khaliq Junejo. The rally was taken out from Sindh University Old Campus to press club.It was participated by large number of political workers, students, women and family members of those killed. They were carrying placards, banners and photos of nationalist parties workers who were killed in custody.Addressing rally comrade Imdad Kazi said then the state will turn its ear deaf on peaceful protests ,sit ins and processions and would block the roads for democratic struggle of people then people shall have violent attitude would take place. He said instead of hearing grievances of people if the state follows illegal ways to suppress the protests and would kill them in custody through torture after picking them up, through their dead bodies it would increase anarchy in society. Giving example of Bangladesh he asked rulers to stop custodial killing of political workers through torture. Khaliq Junejo of Jeay Sindh Mahaz Khaliq Junejo said even today there was One Unit in Pakistan. Some people attack PTV building and close Red Zone yet they are not touched while others are killed for demanding their national and democratic rights. He said by dumping mutilated bodies of 6 young men in one week, state has delivered message to Sindhis that they need resoures of Sindh and not people. Latif Leghari of Workers Party Sindh also addressed the rally.

On the meeting journalists offered Fateha Khawani to Qurban Ali Brohi which was suddenly died he was the brother of senior journalist Mehmood brohi President Press club Thatta and expressed deep sorrow and grief and also prayed to Allah Almighty to grant patience to affected house members.

A NOTORIOUS DACOIT KETOO (K-2) AND A TRACTOR DRIVER KILLED IN FIRING

Shikarpur, Dec 15: One notorious dacoit identified as Ketoo (K-2) Shar was killed in a firing by police and the villagers. While an other tractor driver identified as Zameer Sheikh was also killed by the deceased dacoit on Lakhi-Larkana road near Amrote within the jurisdiction of Amrote Sharif police station on Sunday late night.
According to reports, nominated dacoit Ketoo (K-2) Shar accompanied by his gangsters intercepted the tractor tralee on the road and tried to snatch the tractor tralee from its drivers named Zameer Sheikh.
On the resistance of tractor driver Zameer Sheikh the dacoits gunned down the tractor driver and took away his tractor tralee.
The patrolling police and the villagers of near by village rushed on the spot after hearing the gun fires.
The dacoits opened fires on police and the villagers. As a result of exchange of fires the dangers dacoit Ketoo Shar (K-2) was killed when the other his accomplices slipped away from the scene of firing while taking the benefit of darkness.
According to police the killed dacoit was wanted to police in more than 40 heinous crimes including the murder of one police officer.
While the government had announced rupees 1.00 million for his head money said police.
The police have recovered one Kalashnikov and good number of ammunition.
The dead bodies of tractor driver and the deceased dacoit Ketoo Shar were sent to Madeji hospital for post-mortem examinations their. FIR was not registered till this news was flashed. #

WOMAN KILLED IN ROAD ACCIDENT

Shikarpur, Dec 15: A woman identified as Mst. Mukhtiar Begum Sheikh was killed while eight other persons including Mst. Shabana, Mst. Farzana, Ayaz, Bukhtiar, Farhan, Tufial, Azad and Yousif were seriously wounded when the auto rickshaw was hit by speedy Pajro wagon on Wazir abad link road within the jurisdiction of Lakhi Ghulam Shah police Station on Monday morning.
Deceased Mst. Mukhtiar Begum and her relatives were on their way from lakhi town to Wazir abad village in the auto rickshaw when accident was occurred.
The body of the deceased woman and the injured persons were sent to Lakhi Ghulam Shah Taluka hospital for post-mortem examination and the medical treatment.
The condition of the injured passengers was reported out of danger. FIR was not registered till this news was flashed.
