Lakhvi’s acquittal plea in kidnapping case rejected

ISLAMABAD: An anti terrorism court (ATC) on Friday rejected the bail plea of Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi, the alleged mastermind of the 2008 Mumbai attacks, in a kidnapping case.

Civil Judicial Magistrate Naveed Khan heard the case and dismissed the petition of his acquittal.

The court made its decision after hearing the arguments of Lakhvi’s counsel Rizwan Abbasi and prosecutor Aamir Nadeem. Abbasi maintained that the case registered against Lakhvi was false.

Lakhvi was accused of kidnapping a man six years ago and was also indicted along with six others on 25 November 2009 for planning and helping to carry out the Mumbai attacks.
