Force of volunteers being raised to protect schools: Rana Mashood

LAHORE: Punjab education minister Rana Mashood Ahmed Khan on Tuesday said that a force comprising 0.3 million volunteers was being prepared to counter terrorism at the educational institutions of the province.

Talking to newsmen outside Punjab assembly, Rana Mashood said a huge number of volunteers was being raised to overcome terrorism in the Punjab province, adding a meeting of all the provincial schools has been summoned for Wednesday to discuss the security arrangements for the educational institutions.

“We are taking steps to ensure security of all the schools in Punjab province”, Mashood added.

He further said the nation has stood against the menace of terrorism. Combating terrorism is not just the duty of the government; every citizen will have to play a part in this regard, he added.

“First we tried the option of talks with the Taliban after which the operation Zarb-e-Azb was launched; now all of us will have to come on the same page”, Punjab education minister said.
