KARACHI: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said on Monday that the people of Pakistan are hopeful of a positive outcome of the National Action Plan (NAP).
“I believe people are looking forward to seeing the results of the National Action Plan. The National Action Plan has to now deliver. Failure is not an option,” he said.
The PM while chairing the Provincial Apex Committee meeting at Governor House today, said that it is a must to unite and win the war on terror and that failure was not an option.
He went on to say that terrorism must be completely eliminated for good from the country at all costs.
“We have no other option but to win this war against terrorism. And the scourge of terrorism will have to now be eliminated for all times,” said Sharif.
Sharif said that, whether the terrorists seek refuge in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) or other pockets of the country, the “government and the state intends to simply eliminate them”.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif met Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari at Governor House on Monday prior to the Apex Committee meeting to be held later.
According to sources, the two discussed security issues in the province as well as exchanged views of mutual interest.
Meanwhile, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif and Lieutenant General Naveed Mukthar, Corps Commander Karachi also reached the Governor House to attend the Apex meeting.
The PM will chair the provincial Apex Committee meeting which will review the implementation of the National Action Plan (NAP) as well as the PM will be briefed on the progress of the implementation of the provincial NAP.
He will also be briefed on the progress and performance of the provincial committees.
