ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Ahsan Iqbal on Thursday called for the formation of a committee to punish those individuals who were involved in attacking Parliament. Ahsan added that two leaders in containers had held the entire country hostage.
Addressing the joint session of Parliament, Iqbal said no one could consider backing down in the war to protect the constitution and democracy. He added that in the history of Pakistan a caretaker government had not been appointed on the advice of one party and there is always consensus between the government and opposition.
Mr Iqbal further said that the names for the caretaker government were given by the PPP and the PML-N agreed. “How can it be that the PPP would nominate those individuals who would favour the PML-N?”
Ahsan Iqbal said the name of the Chief Election Commissioner was given with consensus and was verified by Imran Khan. He added that for the first time in Pakistan’s history voter lists were made on NADRA identity cards and there was no difference proven in results of polling agents and returning officers in any constituency.
Mr Iqbal was critical of Imran Khan questioning the type of guidance he was offering the youth of the country. He said the Parliament was unanimous in its support against the demand of the prime minister resigning while the other five demands of PTI had been accepted.
