KARACHI: Chief Minister Sindh, Syed Qaim Ali Shah has said that the Sindh Govt has achieved another milestone to curb the crime and ensure justice to the people by establishing Forensic and Molecular Biology Laboratory for DNA testing.
This he said while addressing the inaugural ceremony of Forensic and Molecular Biology Laboratory for DNA Testing and Institute of Bio Medical Technology established by Liaquat University of Medical Health sciences LUMHS held at the CM House Karachi.
While addressing the gathering, the CM said that now this new laboratory with help the law enforcing agencies in resolving difficult cases and in catering the justice by getting the DNA repot within 72 hours instead of weeks or month as per previous practice.
He said that it was very important technology to identity the missing person, unknown bodies or ascertain the paternity dispute not only to ensure justice to the aggrieving party but also to curb the crime as well.
Qaim Ali Shah while recalling the unfortunate fatal bomb blast incident on Oct 18 2007 when PPP Chairman Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto returned to Pakistan and welcomed by millions of people at Karachi, causing more than 200 casualties and injuring many, he said that at that time we run pillar to post to get the DNA report of martyred PPP workers to identity them and send the samples to Islamabad and Lahore but the result of many cases could not received even in the whole years, subsequently we buried more than 40 martyred as unidentified.
The Vice-Chancellor LUMHS Prof. Dr. Noshad Shaikh also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the DNA testing laboratory and its importance. He also announced for establishing Bilawal Bhutto Zardari Medical College.
Senior Sindh Minister, Nisar Khuhro, Secretary on Universities & Board, Syed Mumtaz Ali Shah, Secretary to CM Sindh, Alamuddin Bullo and other officers for Sindh Govt and Medical fraternity attended the ceremony.
