ISLAMABAD, Apr 21 (INP): President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping inaugurated solar energy systems for Parliament here on Tuesday.
Chinese President and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif inaugurated the Solar Power Generation System (SPGS), a 1.2MW project for providing electricity to the Parliament building through solar energy as a present from the Chinese government to Pakistan.
Mr Jinping arrived at the Parliament along with his delegation amid tight security. He was welcomed at the parliament House by the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, NA Speaker Ayaz Sadiq and Chairman Senate Mian Raza Rabbani.
The first lady of China Peng Liyuan and the first lady of Pakistan Begum Kulsoom Nawaz also arrived at the parliament.
Soon after his arrival, Mr Jinping iangurated the solar energy system and then met NA speaker Ayaz Sadiq where the Chinese and Pakistani delegations discussed issues of mutual concern.
Speaker NA Ayaz Sadiq welcomed the Chinese delegation and appreciated China’s support in Pakistan’s fight against terrorism.
