Another polio case surfaces in N. Waziristan

PESHAWAR: A 14-month old child was diagnosed with the polio virus in Miramshah area of North Waziristan tribal region.

The detection of the latest case was confirmed according to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Polio Monitoring Cell.

No polio team had visited the area since 2012 as the government had discontinued anti-polio campaign in the region owing to security concerns following attacks on several polio teams by militants.

The latest case brings the total number of polio cases detected in the country during the current year to 59.
