25 candidates file nominations for NA-246 by-polls

KARACHI: Twenty five candidates have submitted their nomination papers to contest the upcoming by-polls for National Assembly constituency NA-246 scheduled to be held on April 23, 2015.

According to details, eight candidates from the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) have submitted their nomination papers for the contest.

Two candidates belonging to the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), as many from Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), two from Jamat-e-Islami (JI) and one from Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) have also filed their nomination papers.

Talking to newsmen PTI leader and one of the candidates for NA-246, Imran Ismail said his party would contest the by-polls from NA-246 and ruled out extending support to any other party in the by-elections.

The seat was vacated by ex-MQM leader Nabeel Gabol after he resigned from the NA membership.

Later, the Election Commission of Pakistan announced holding by-polls for NA-246 for April 12, 2015.
