KARACHI: Sindh government on Wednesday extended Rangers special policing powers for another 90 days.
On Wednesday, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah approved a summary sent to him by Home Department recommending extension in Rangers’ special policing powers for 90 days. This time around, the Chief Minister extended Rangers powers three days before the expiry of the term.
Yesterday, Sindh Home Minister had sent the summary recommending extension in the special powers given to Rangers under Section 2 of Anti-Terrorism Act 1997.
The special powers have been extended from July 15 to October 12, 2017. The special powers of the paramilitary force are to expire on midnight of July 14, 2017.
