Experts & dignitaries to discuss critical issues on 85th Pak Day

KARACHI: An anniversary on the eve of 85th Pakistan Day was held here by the Rotary Club Khairpur Bhittai and other associates. A prestigious Iftar Dinner host, Sarfaraz Korejo, Chartered President Rotary, collected distinguished panel of experts and dignitaries to discuss criti- cal issues related to education, finance andsocial development. The event fostered insightful discussions on nationalprogress institutional reforms,uniting thought leaders from academia, government, and the private sector.The Chief Guest, Dr. M. Tariq Rafi, Chairman, Sindh Higher Education Commission, emphasized the need foracademic excellence, research-driven policies, and stronger collaboration between universities and industry toenhance Pakistan’s knowledge economy.The Host of the Event, Mr. Sarfaraz Korejo, Chartered President, Rotary Club Khairpur Bhittai on the occasion, shared the Club’s vision of promotingHe proposed organizing a second event at Shah Abdul Latif University Khairpur, on Pakistan’s Independence Day,reinforcing commitment to education and community development.The Guest of Honor, Dr. Hafiz A. Pasha, former Federal Minister for Finance and Assistant Secretary General of the United Nations, provided an in-depth analysis of Pakistan’s economic landscape. He underscored the importance of strategic policymaking in fostering sustainable growth and highlighted Pakistan’s progress over the last 78 years.The speakers included Dr. Masooma Hasan, Chairperson,Institute of International Affairs, who addressed evolving global dynamics and their impact on Pakistan’s foreign policy and international collaborations. Dr. M. Yousuf Khushk, Vice Chancellor and Meritorious Professor, Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur, who emphasized the role of academia in shaping a progressive and knowledge-driven society. Dr. Tipu Sultan, former President, (PMA)Pakistan Medical Association & Vice Chancellor, Malir University whocalled for urgent reforms in Pakistan’s healthcare system and medical education.Noaman Abdul Majid, Chairman, Abdul Majeed Foundation & Financial Consultant, who discussed economic strategies, investment opportunities, and financial inclusion. He urged philanthropists and welfare-driven individuals to allocate 50% of their charity funds towards manpower development, ensuring long-term socio-economic impact. Shakil Qaimkhani, District Governor-Elect, Rotary Club District 3271, who highlighted the Rotary Club’s contributions to community service and philanthropy.Muhammad Abbas Baloch, Secretary, Universities & Boards, who emphasized the importance of governance in strengthening the education sector and improving institutional efficiency. Saad Amanullah Khan, former President, American Business Council, who elaborated on the corporate sector’s role in economic development and social responsibility. At the sound of Azan for Iftar, participants broke their fast together, followed by congregational Maghrib prayers. Guests then reassembled for a sumptuous dinner featuring a diverse selection of Pakistani and continental dishes. The wide variety of desserts was a particular highlight, leaving everyone thoroughly delighted.
